In 2015, The Kanji Project entered into a partnership with a group of Franciscan Sisters based in the countryside near Pudupalayam, who were keen to establish a day centre for local children with severe learning difficulties. The Kanji Project agreed to fund repairs to the building intended for the day centre and the provision of basic equipment. The day centre is named the Sunshine Special School. The children who attend are sponsored by TKP supporters in the UK, and the programme of basic skills and physiotherapy offered at the day centre is changing the lives of the children who attend and their parents.
